LOS ANGELES, CA –April 23, 2024 – League One Volleyball (LOVB) – the largest brand in youth volleyball with its professional volleyball league launching in the U.S. later this year – today announced the winner of its LOVB championship trophy competition. Designed to build momentum for the Pro inaugural season, the program asked junior players from LOVB clubs around the country to submit creative ideas that would serve as inspiration for the LOVB Finals trophy.
With submissions flooding in from club members from around the country, the winner of this first-of-its-kind league competition was decided by a panel of legendary judges – including LOVB investor and WNBA legend Candace Parker and her daughter Lailaa, and volleyball superstars Haleigh Washington and Logan Eggleston – who chose Chanya Kitchaiya from club KC Power as the winner. The winning design was chosen for how it best represented LOVB’s values and its interconnected community.
“We believe that every remarkable league deserves an equally remarkable championship trophy, and who better to inspire it than our talented club athletes,” said Rosie Spaulding, LOVB Pro COO. “These young athletes represent the future of our sport, so we are thrilled to give our LOVB club athletes the opportunity to leave their mark on the league through their creativity and become part of volleyball history.”
To participate, LOVB club juniors, ages 18 and under, were asked to send in sketches, essays or other visual representations that highlights LOVB’s philosophy of being interwoven. Their designs were to represent how LOVB is a connected community of clubs, players and their families, and its pro league – all interwoven together to champion athletes throughout their entire volleyball journey. From there, five finalists were chosen, with the panel of judges identifying the winning concept. The final design will serve as the inspiration for the LOVB Finals trophy, with the winner also having the unique opportunity to be part of the presentation of the trophy at the LOVB Finals in April 2025.
“One of the things that makes LOVB so special is the commitment to creating real connections between youth and pro. Through this design competition, our club juniors were able to actively contribute to the future success of our league, which is just a remarkable opportunity for these young athletes,” said Eggleston. “I loved being part of this process and lifting up the creativity of these talented young people as we create something that will be as unique as our league. I can’t wait to see Chanya’s design inspiration come to life next April 2025 at the LOVB Finals!”
LOVB Pro’s inaugural pre-season will begin in November, with its main season starting in January 2025 and concluding with the LOVB Finals in April. With matches between six teams featuring All Americans, International sensations, and Olympic greats, LOVB continues to champion the sport of volleyball - and every athlete who plays in it - in unprecedented ways.
