LOVB Madison Adds Jesús Echevarría to Staff

MADISON, Wis. - Jesús Echevarría joins LOVB Madison as an assistant coach, bringing a wealth of experience across professional, collegiate and international levels. He joins head coach Fernando Morales and assistant coach Annemarie Hickey to complete the coaching staff.

Jesús currently serves as an assistant coach for the Puerto Rican men’s national team,  helping them secure a silver medal at the 2026 Pan-American Volleyball Cup.  His professional experience includes a stint as an assistant coach for the Dallas Pulse, where he led the team to an MLV title. Additionally, he spent several years at Youngstown State, earning a promotion to associate head coach in 2023 while guiding the program to its best record in eight years and a historic Horizon League tournament qualification.

Prior to his time at Youngstown State, Echevarría was a graduate assistant at the University of Evansville alongside head coach Fernando Morales, helping lead the program to its first postseason bid since joining the Missouri Valley Conference. His international and professional resume includes coaching roles with the South Korean Women’s National Team and Puerto Rico Women’s National Team. With the latter, he contributed to NORCECA and Olympic Qualifier silver medals. He also worked with the Mets de Guaynabo, where he helped secure four league championships. Additionally, he coached in Puerto Rico’s Women’s Professional League with Changas de Naranjito, which during his time reached the finals for the first time in franchise history, and managed extensive club and high school programs in the territory.

A standout former student-athlete at Baruch College, Echevarría was a CUNY Champion and Finals MVP. He holds a degree in Sport Management from Elms College and a Master of Science in Leadership from the University of Evansville. His coaching credentials include a Level II FIVB Coaches Certification and a Level III National Coaches Certification from the Puerto Rico Volleyball Federation.
