For more than 25 years, Tampa United Volleyball Academy has been shaping athletes and leaders in the Tampa Bay community—and now they’re joining the LOVB family.
Founded in 1998 by Gary Larkin, Tampa United began as Sandspurs Volleyball Club with just two teams and a clear vision: to teach the game the right way while developing confident, resilient young athletes. Through years of growth, collaboration, and competitive success, the program evolved into Tampa United Volleyball Academy, a name now recognized nationwide for its technical excellence, character-driven culture, and commitment to athlete development.
At the core of Tampa United is a college-based training model led by current and former college coaches who understand exactly what it takes to compete at the next level. Training takes place at the Thunder Dome, a premier facility that supports elite development, film study, and year-round growth.
Today, Tampa United is led by Danielle Priest. Under her leadership, the club has continued to elevate opportunities for athletes while staying rooted in its mission to train the whole player. Tampa United believes that skill without character will always fall short of excellence, and that volleyball is a powerful tool for shaping future leaders, professionals, and community changemakers.
By joining LOVB, Tampa United Volleyball Academy becomes part of a nationwide movement dedicated to growing the game, empowering athletes, and strengthening volleyball communities.
