LOVB Nebraska Doubles Down on Grand Island in 2027

Two matches set for BigIron Events Center following sold-out debut

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. – LOVB Nebraska will play two matches at BigIron Events Center during the upcoming 2026-27 season, returning to Grand Island following a sold-out match last season.

Dates, times and opponents for both matches will be announced with LOVB Pro's full 2026-27 season schedule.

"Coming back to Grand Island was a no-brainer," said Kirsten Bernthal Booth, president of business operations for LOVB Nebraska. "Last season's match was so much fun for our players and everyone who was part of it. The crowd brought incredible energy, and we're excited to share that experience again."

LOVB Nebraska's Grand Island debut was one of the league's best-selling matches, drawing a sold-out crowd of more than 5,000 on March 7, 2026. Nebraska swept LOVB Salt Lake, with Hooper native and four-time Olympian Jordan Larson recording 14 kills and 13 digs.

Larson returns alongside fellow former Huskers Rebekah Allick, Lindsay Krause-Wildeman and Lexi Rodriguez for the 2026-27 season. The team's Nebraska roots extend beyond its college connections, with middle blocker Sabrina Starks joining Larson, Allick and Krause-Wildeman as the roster's four Nebraska natives.

"When we say we're Nebraska's professional volleyball team, we want to put that into practice," Booth said. "We're grateful for the way central Nebraska has welcomed us, and bringing more matches to Grand Island gives people across the region more opportunities to watch elite professional volleyball closer to home."

The success of last season's match has helped build momentum for continued investment in BigIron Events Center, including new arena lighting approved in July to enhance the experience for athletes and audiences across sporting events and concerts.

"The atmosphere for that first match showed how much professional volleyball means to this community," said Kyler Tarwater, executive director of BigIron Events Center. "We're excited to welcome LOVB Nebraska back for two matches and give even more people the chance to experience that energy here in Grand Island."

More than 50% of LOVB Nebraska's season ticket holders traveled to Grand Island for last season's match. With two matches scheduled for 2026-27, the return is expected to bring visitors to the city and generate business for local hotels, restaurants and shops.

Presale tickets for the Grand Island matches will be available Monday, Nov. 9, with tickets going on sale to the public Tuesday, Nov. 10.
